Rishabh Pant is most likely to be ruled out of the fifth test against England.
In what has been the latest development, as per a report in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised Rishabh Pant‘s replacement for the fifth test against England. Tamil Nadu keeper-batter N Jagadeesan will be there to replace the vice-captain of the side.
Rishabh Pant is all set to be ruled out of the fifth test against England, which will take place at the Oval from 31st July. This comes after he sustained a toe injury while batting in the first innings. He attempted to play a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes and then got hit on the right foot.
Some reports claimed that the BCCI was all set to include Ishan Kishan, but the left-hander also has been battling injury and was ruled out as a replacement for Pant. This put the governing body in a bit of trouble, but they didn’t take long to identify the other candidate.
N Jagadeesan will join India team ahead of the fifth test

The reports claimed that Tamil Nadu keeper-batter N Jagadeesan will join the team ahead of the final game. The right-hander has been picked based on his terrific performance in domestic cricket over the last few years.
In the last edition of the Ranji Trophy, Jagadeesan slammed 674 runs in eight matches at an impressive average of 56.16, with two hundreds and five fifties. He was the leading run-getter for his side in the tournament. Overall, he has scored 3373 runs at an average of 47.50 with 14 half-centuries and 10 centuries in 52 First-Class (FC) cricket.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing fourth test against England, Rishabh Pant showed great courage. The keeper-batter, despite his injury, walked out to bat after Shardul Thakur got out, having slammed 41 runs.
Rishabh Pant missing the last game will come as a massive blow for the team. He has scored over 470 runs in the series and is the second leading run-getter. Not only this, he also has hammered two tons and three fifties.
It is quite obvious that N Jagadeesan, if selected, will serve as a backup for Dhruv Jurel, who will be the first choice keeper in the last game.
