BCCI President Roger Binny & VVS Laxman to question Harmanpreet Kaur over her behaviour in Bangladesh

BCCI officials to inquire India women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur for her code of conduct breach in Bangladesh.

On Thursday, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah disclosed that BCCI President Roger Binny and Head of Cricket VVS Laxman will be conducting an inquiry with the women's team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, regarding her outbursts during the recently concluded ODIs against Bangladesh.

“Roger Binny and Laxman will question Harmanpreet on her outbursts during the third ODI against Bangladesh” Shah told reporters in New Delhi.

After the meeting with state unit officials in New Delhi, BCCI secretary Shah addressed the press and announced that the Indian board would not be appealing against the two-match suspension imposed on Harmanpreet Kaur by the ICC.

Harmanpreet Kaur's outbursts during third ODI under scrutiny

Harmanpreet Kaur, having been dismissed by the on-field umpire in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh last week, expressed her frustration by aggressively hitting the stumps. Her emotions continued to run high during the post-match presentation, where she passionately voiced her grievances.

ICC's Actions: Fine and Suspension for Kaur

After the incident, the International Cricket Council intervened and imposed a substantial fine on Harmanpreet Kaur, along with a two-match suspension. As a result, Kaur will be unavailable to play in India's first two matches at the Asian Games 2023.

Following this incident, Kaur has faced severe criticism for her on-field behavior and conduct, with reports suggesting that she even mocked the Bangladesh players during the trophy presentation. In a piece published in The Indian Express, former India captain Diana Edulji called on the BCCI to take action against Kaur for her actions, emphasizing that her behavior as a captain sets a negative example.
