BCCI President Roger Binny and Vice-President Rajiv Shukla all set to visit Lahore for Asia Cup 2023

BCCI accepted the invitation, and Roger Binny and Rajiv Shukla will travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023
Asia Cup 2023 will start next week on August 30. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will host the tournament, which will see the top six Asian teams play against each other in two groups of three each. The first match will feature a clash between Pakistan and Nepal in Lahore. Earlier, Pakistan was scheduled to host the entire tournament on its own. However, India was not willing to travel.
As a result, Sri Lanka was introduced as a co-host. India will play all the games in Sri Lanka. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent an invitation for the BCCI bosses to come to Pakistan during some games of the Asia Cup. And it is confirmed now that the BCCI officials will travel to Pakistan for some Asia Cup 2023 games.
BCCI accepted PCB’s invitation for a visit for Asia Cup 2023
PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf officially invited the BCCI bosses on August 15. According to the report from ESPN Cricinfo, the invitation was sent to all cricket boards, and the BCCI has confirmed their visit. The BCCI president, Roger Binny, and vice president, Rajiv Shukla, will visit Lahore for the upcoming tournament. They will travel via Wagah Border after they return from Sri Lanka after attending the IND vs PAK game in Pallekele on September 2.
This will be the first time that any BCCI official will visit Pakistan since political tensions arose between the two countries, which led to no bilateral series between them. A BCCI source told PTI, “BCCI president Binny and vice president Shukla will be going to Pakistan to watch a few games. PCB had invited BCCI, and as one of the key members of ACC, Binny and Shukla will be travelling to Pakistan.”
The report also suggests that the BCCI officials will attend the game to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Karachi on September 3 or 5, which will be part of their two-day visit. Notably, Pakistan will be hosting four games in the Asia Cup 2023, while the remaining nine matches will take place in Sri Lanka, including the final on September 17 in Colombo.
