Mohsin Naqvi took away Asia Cup 2025 trophy after India refused to take it from him.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has written an official email to theAsian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi about the return of Asia Cup 2025 trophy. They reportedly have demanded the return immediately or else they will take the matter further.
As per the reports in India Today, it is learnt that the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned that they are awaiting a response from Mohsin Naqvi and if he doesn’t reply then the BCCI will take the matter to the International Cricket Council (ICC). Saikia said that they are handling the matter in a step-by-step process.
The reports claimed that Sri Lanka and Afghanistan cricket boards have also come in favour of the BCCI and have told Mohsin Naqvi to return the trophy. The source close to the developments said that the ACC Chairman is firm on his stance and has said that a BCCI official should come to his office and take the trophy.
BCCI has made its stance clear that it won’t be receiving the trophy from him – ACC source

“The BCCI secretary, BCCI’s ACC representative Rajeev Shukla and representatives of other member boards including Sri Lanka Cricket and Afghanistan had written to the ACC president last week over handing the trophy to India,” the ACC source said.“But his response was that someone from BCCI should come to Dubai and take the trophy from him. So that matter has still not moved. BCCI has made its stance clear that it won’t be receiving the trophy from him. So the matter will most likely be decided in the ICC meeting,” he added.
This all started after India refused to take Asia Cup 2025 trophy from Mohsin Naqvi after winning the tournament. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side beat Pakistan in the final to win their ninth title. They were on the ground to collect the trophy but wanted it from some other official.
This didn’t go well with Moshin Naqvi as he left the stadium and took the medals and trophy along with him. The ACC meeting then took place on September 30 and the BCCI strictly said that the trophy should be returned to the winning team.
Naqvi then apologised to the ACC members but stood by his position and declined to hand the trophy. The matter is still going on, and the trophy still stays under the custody of Naqvi.
