Ben Stokes scored 64 runs against Australia in match 36 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad.

Australia locked horns with the defending champion England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday in match No. 36 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. It was an important game for both teams, but Australia continued their domination and won the game by 33 runs. The game started with England winning the toss and electing to field first. England dismissed both dangerous Australian openers early, but Australia posted a challenging total on the board.

Batting first, they made 286 runs and lost all ten wickets in the final over of the innings. England managed a decent performance with the ball and took all ten wickets for a below-par score. But all came to England’s batting once again, which hasn’t clicked so far in this tournament. Eventually, it failed once again.

Australia got off to a perfect start when Mitchell Starc dismissed Jonny Bairstow on the very first ball of the second innings. Joe Root also got dismissed cheaply after scoring just 13 runs. But Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes added 84 runs for the third wicket. Both batters made a half-century each. Ben Stokes played some excellent shots during his innings and hit three maximums. His third six was so flat that it even broke a chair near the boundary line.

It was on the second ball of the 32nd over when Travis Head was bowling. He bowled a short ball, and Ben Stokes went back and pulled it for a six over leg side. It went pretty flat, and cracked a chair placed at the boundary. Ben Stokes got out after scoring 64 off 90 balls. He was the highest scorer for his team.

Chasing the target, England got all out for 253 runs in 48.1 overs and registered their sixth defeat of the tournament. With this, England are officially out of the competition. On the other hand, this win has helped Australia gain two important points and take their tally to 10 points. Australia now have better chances of making it to the next round. Adam Zampa, who scored 29 runs and took 3/21, won the Man of the Match award.
