Ben Stokes missed the first three league games for England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes' comeback is the most-awaited player currently for English cricket fans. England suffered a shock defeat against Afghanistan, their campaign got a bit hit due to one of the biggest upsets in world cricket. England will be playing next against South Africa at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. England fans are eagerly awaiting for their 2019 hero to immediately turn up and take England out of the crisis.

Ben Stokes revealed that he will be making his comeback in Mumbai, and he feels that he is in a good place. Ben Stokes suffered a niggle in his hip and missed the first three games. Stokes has played only three games since he announced his comeback from ODI retirement and got no opportunity even in the warm-up round for English side. Stokes will be playing a key role for his team in the remainder of the World Cup tournament.

'It was frustrating little niggle,' says Ben Stokes

While talking to BBC radio, Stokes said that it was frustrating for him to sit out in a crucial tournament like World Cup. Stokes said, “It was a frustrating little niggle to get before the World Cup tournament, but I have worked hard to get back to where I am now and make myself ready to be available for selection.” Earlier, England head coach Matthew Mott also confirmed that Ben Stokes will be coming back against South Africa in Mumbai.

Ben Stokes further added that, currently, he is in a good position to get back on the field again. Stokes said, “We have had a few days off since the last game against Afghanistan and the first training session here in Mumbai. I will give it a good push, but, yes, I think everything is pretty good. I am in a good place.” England will be expecting that Stokes' comeback will prove beneficial for them, as they need to win five out of their six games to stay in the hunt.

Defending champions England looked in a spot of bother after losing to New Zealand and Afghanistan in the first three games. They had a great game against Bangladesh in Dharamshala, but in the rest of the two games, English batting looked below average. Harry Brook played a decent knock against Afghanistan in Delhi, and it will be interesting to watch what England decides to get Stokes back and who loses his place in the playing XI.
