England test captain Ben Stokes has been out of action for a while now with him last featuring in Ashes 2025-26 in January, where he also sustained an adductor injury. Under his captaincy, England faced a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Australia in the five-match test series.
Australia crushed England in three consecutive games at the start, showcasing a marvellous dominance at home. England made a comeback by winning the fourth game in Melbourne, before facing another defeat in the fifth and final game in Sydney.
Stokes too failed to make a mark with the bat, scoring just 184 runs in 10 innings with a lone half-century in the third test. He got out cheaply in most of his outings. However, with 15 scalps at an average of 25.13, the England captain impressed with his bowling. He clinched a five-wicket haul in the opening test in Perth.
Ben Stokes suffers brutal face injury, shares photo with fans
While Stokes was already recovering from an adductor injury, he has now suffered a brutal face injury. The England all-rounder shared the news of his injury with fans in an Instagram story. In the photo, Stokes was seen with multiple injury marks on his face.
His right eye was heavily swollen and bruised, alongside swollen muscles on his cheek and lip, and a bandage stuffed into his nose. According to reports, Stokes was not batting when the incident occurred. He was standing on the side with his teammates. He couldn’t see the ball, which ultimately hit him on the right side of the face.

Meanwhile, Stokes is not part of England’s squad for T20 World Cup 2026. He will be next seen in the test series against New Zealand in June, where both sides will clash in three matches.
