"He's best fast bowler ever.." World Cup winning Australian captain hails Jasprit Bumrah after outstanding BGT 2024-25

Jasprit Bumrah picked up 86 wickets in 21 matches across formats in 2024.

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has lavished rich praises on Jasprit Bumrah, hailing the Indian speedster as the best fast bowler across the three formats.

Since returning from a back injury in 2023, Bumrah has been in a rich vein of form across all three formats of the game, and has been almost unplayable at times.

Since June 2023, Bumrah has picked up 124 wickets in 42 international matches, the most wickets by any bowler in the world. He’s done it at an average of only 15.26.

He played key roles in India winning the Asia Cup 2023, finishing as the runners-up at the ICC ODI World Cup 2024, was the Man of the Tournament at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and was the chief reason why India remained competitive in the BGT 2024-25, where he attained newer heights with 32 wickets at an average of only 13.06.

After observing Bumrah’s performances in the BGT 2024-25, Clarke picked the 31-year-old seamer as the greatest all-format fast bowler, while mentioning that he didn’t account into the likes of other former legendary pacers who didn’t play T20 cricket.

“The thing I’ve thought about Bumrah, after the series finished and I was sitting and thinking about his performances, I actually think he’s the best fast bowler ever across all three formats,” Clarke said on ESPN’s Around the Wicket.

Clarke gushed in praise for Bumrah’s effectiveness across all conditions in the world.

“I know a lot of great fast bowlers, Curtly Ambrose, Glenn McGrath, didn’t get to play T20 cricket, so I’m not talking about those guys, but in regards to anyone who has played all three formats, I think he might be the best ever. He’s actually that good in any conditions, that’s what makes him great; any conditions, any format, this guy’s a freak,” he added.
