The BGT 2024-25 currently is locked at 1-1 after two tests.

The high-voltage BGT 2024-25 is set for a record crowd on day 1 of the Boxing Day Test match, which is slated to kick off on December 26 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

While the series will now head to Brisbane for the third test, the selling out of all available public tickets for day 1 of the Boxing Day Test has got everyone excited for the fourth test of the series in Melbourne.

The MCG has a total capacity of 100,024 (consisting of 95,000 seats and approximately 5000 standing room spaces). Cricket Australia has confirmed that the opening day of the fourth test will see a full capacity crowd.

CA tweeted, “All available public tickets for Day 1 of the NRMA Insurance Boxing Day Test have been sold. There will be a possible final release of a small number of public tickets on December 24 for non-members to get their seats.

BGT 2024-25: Adelaide crowd breaks previous record of an IND vs AUS test

This news comes on the back of a record crowd in Adelaide. Over the three days in the Adelaide test, the total attendance was 135,012, which is the highest in Adelaide in a test match against India, breaking the record of 113,009 attendance during the IND vs AUS test in the 2014/15 series.

The single-day attendance record for a test against India in Adelaide was also broken both on day 1 and 2 with 50,186 and 51,642 fans respectively – the third and fifth highest attendance for any day of test cricket at Adelaide Oval.

Meanwhile, the action will now move to the Gabba for the third test, which will start on December 14. India have fond memories of their victory at the Gabba in 2021 when they registered one of the most famous wins in their test cricket history.

India will be looking to draw inspiration from that win and take a lead in the series once again after the 10-wicket drubbing in Adelaide.
