The first day of the third BGT 2024-25 test at the Gabba was marred significantly by rain.

The third test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 kicked off on Saturday, December 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first, citing overcast conditions.

The visitors made two key changes to their lineup. Ravindra Jadeja replaced Ravichandran Ashwin, while Akash Deep made it to the XI in place of Harshit Rana. For the hosts, Josh Hazlewood made his return from a side strain injury, replacing Scott Boland in Australia’s playing XI.

Rain was a huge disruptor on day 1 of the third test as it allowed just 13.2 overs of play on Saturday. Australia finished the day on 28/0, with Usman Khawaja (19) and Nathan McSweeney (4) both unbeaten at the crease.

Notably, there was little assistance for the Indian bowlers, and Jasprit Bumrah was even caught on the stump mic saying, “Swing nahi ho raha” (It’s not swinging).

On that note, let’s take a look at what is expected from the weather on the second day of the Gabba test.

Brisbane weather forecast for day 2 of the third test
