Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
BGT 2024-25: Jasprit Bumrah vs Pat Cummins - Who has better test record at MCG, Melbourne?

Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins are two of the greatest fast bowlers of the modern era.
Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins stand as two of the finest fast bowlers in modern cricket. While they have different bowling styles, both share the incredible ability to take wickets in any situation of the game.
Bumrah has been India‘s key weapon in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. The 31-year-old speedster has taken 21 wickets in six innings at an average of 10.90. Irrespective of the question, Bumrah has been the answer for the visitors.
However, for India to win the series, he will need more support from other pacers – Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana.
The story has been better for Pat Cummins, who has found consistent support from Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland. The Australian captain has taken 14 wickets in six innings in the series so far at an average of 22.85. His five-wicket haul in the Adelaide test steered Australia to a dominating 10-wicket win.
As we move to Melbourne for the Boxing Day test, these two pacers will hold the key for their teams.
On that note, let’s compare the records of these two fast bowlers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Jasprit Bumrah’s stats at MCG
Bumrah has taken 15 wickets in two tests at the venue at an average of 13.06.
Bumrah played at the MCG for the first time in 2018. The Indian speedster delivered a match-winning performance, claiming figures of 6/33 and 3/53 across the two innings. His heroics helped India script a dominating 137-run victory.
He returned to Melbourne in 2020 to claim 4/56 and 2/54 in the first and second innings respectively. India ultimately won the test by eight wickets.
Pat Cummins’ stats at MCG
Cummins has taken 35 wickets in seven tests in Melbourne at an average of 17. His incredible tally includes four five-wicket hauls.
His best bowling figure 6/27 at the venue came against India in 2018. Despite his marathon effort, Australia lost that test by 137 runs.
