Kuldeep Yadav was part of India’s squad in the last two test tours of Australia.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on October 25 announced the India squad for the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which will be played from November 22 in Australia.

Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian side and Jasprit Bumrah has been named Rohit’s deputy.

The Asian Giants have won their last two test series on Australian shores (2018-19 and 2020-21) and will be aiming for their hat-trick of test series wins Down Under.

Talking about the squad, the BCCI have picked a squad that is a blend of youth and experience. It includes several cricketers who will be touring Australia for the first time in their test careers.

However, there is a player who has been part of the last two test series wins in Australia but won’t tour this time. A notable exclusion from the 18-man squad is wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who was part of the Bangladesh and New Zealand test series at home.

Kuldeep’s exclusion initially left everyone surprised as his mystery spin would have been handy on Australian pitches.

Reason revealed: Why Kuldeep Yadav isn’t selected in the India test squad for the Australia series

The BCCI revealed that Kuldeep Yadav was unavailable for the selection for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as he will go to the BCCI Centre of Excellence to treat his chronic left groin issue.

“Kuldeep Yadav was unavailable for selection for the tour of Australia since he has been referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence after the end of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand for long term resolution of his chronic left groin issue,” the BCCI statement said.
