Rohit Sharma missed the first BGT 2024-25 in Perth.
Australia thoroughly dominated the proceedings on day 2 of the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Adelaide. After starting the day with a score of 86/1, Travis Head’s magnificent ton guided the hosts to a hefty lead of 157 runs in their first innings.
Head’s blistering 140-run knock included 17 fours and four sixes. Head was well-supported by Marnus Labuschagne who chipped in with a gritty 64.
The pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj starred for the visitors picking up four wickets each while Ravi Ashwin and Nitish Reddy chipped in with one wicket each.
India’s second innings started on a poor note with opener KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal going back to the pavilion inside the first 10 overs. Virat Kohli departed next, nicking behind an outside off-stump delivery from Boland, followed by Shubman Gill, who was bowled by Starc.
India suffered another major setback in the 21st over when Pat Cummins dismissed Rohit Sharma, who had shifted to the middle order for the Adelaide test.
Cummins set up Rohit with two consecutive deliveries angling into him before unleashing an away-swinger that beat Rohit’s outside edge and crashed into the off-stump. The Indian skipper was dismissed for just six runs, leaving the visitors in big trouble. Rohit had managed only three runs in the first innings.
