Jasprit Bumrah bowled only one over in the second session on day 2.
India have been left a man down, and it’s their main man, Jasprit Bumrah, who left the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in the middle of day 2 of the ongoing fifth BGT 2024-25 test match for scans on an unknown injury.
This is a really terrible news for India, both in short-term and long-term if Bumrah is out for a long time.
On day 2 of the Sydney test, Bumrah bowled with menace to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne in his second over of the day before Mohammed Siraj got rid of Sam Konstas and Travis Head in the same over.
Steve Smith and Beau Webster countered with a terrific partnership of 57 (92) before Prasidh Krishna retorted with wickets of Smith and Alex Carey to bring back the visitors in the match and keep the game in balance.
Bumrah has been steaming in all throughout the series. Not only he’s leading the wickets chart, with 32 scalps, he’s also bowled the second-most overs in this series – 151.2, which is just four balls less than what Pat Cummins has bowled.
This workload felt inevitable to hurt Bumrah’s body. And it’s come at an inopportune time for India as he walked off the field and off the ground after bowling one over in the second session on day 2.
Bumrah was seen going off the venue with the support staff member. It is very likely that he went to get a scan on the issue that’s not yet known.

Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Kumar Reddy have stepped up with the ball in Bumrah’s absence and India have Australia reeling at 166/9, still 19 runs in the deficit.
