Starting their second innings with a 105-run deficit, India dismantled Australia’s top order to reduce the hosts to 94/6. Continuing his excellent form, Bumrah removed debutant Sam Konstas with an in-swinger and then took three quick wickets, including Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Alex Carey in his next spell.

Unlike the previous two tests in Adelaide and Brisbane, Bumrah got solid support from Mohammed Siraj, who dismissed Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith on either side of the lunch break.
