Harshit Rana claimed Travis Head as his maiden test wicket.

Part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Australian quick Mitchell Starc led a friendly banter with Indian seamer Harshit Rana during the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.

The BGT 2024-25 got underway on Friday at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Australia bundled out India for 150 runs after stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bowl first. Josh Hazlewood took a four-wicket haul while the three other pacers, Starc, Cummins, and Marsh, bagged two wickets each.

India made a thunderous riposte with the ball. Led by Bumrah, India had Australia seven down for 59 runs. The Indian skipper took four wickets. Harshit made his debut in Perth and claimed Travis Head as his maiden wicket.

On the morning of day 2, Bumrah completed his five-wicket haul, while Rana dismissed Nathan Lyon as Australia slipped to 79/9.

“I have got a long memory” Mitchell Starc sledges Harshit Rana

In the morning session on day 2, Starc initiated banter with Rana with a tinge of a sledge in it. Rana was bowling with serious heat, clocking over 140 KPH speeds regularly.

After one of his deliveries to Starc, the Australian told Rana, “I bowl faster than you. I have got a long memory.”

Rana didn’t respond with any words and only smiled before walking back to his bowling mark
