Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest player to score a century in the IPL.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has grabbed headlines in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with his marvellous batting show at a young age. On Monday, April 28, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman slammed a century against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025. Now, he has been awarded Rs 10 lakh prize money by the Bihar government after his maiden IPL century.

This match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, and the teenage cricket sensation made many records by scoring a 35-ball ton. For instance, he became the youngest batsman to score a fifty in IPL history with his century in the RR vs GT clash.

He leapfrogged his fellow teammate and RR skipper Riyan Parag. Moreover, he also became the youngest batsman ever to slam a ton in IPL by replacing Manish Pandey from the record.

Notably, Suryavanshi made his IPL debut this season. He is also the youngest batsman to make his IPL debut. He is just 14 years old and he stunned the spectators by hitting a six off his very first ball in the tournament. The left-handed batsman has so far scored 151 runs in three matches at an impressive batting average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 215.72.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announces INR 10 Lakh for Vaibhav Suryavanshi

The RR youngster hails from the Bihar Government. After Suryavanshi’s successful start in IPL and record-breaking innings against Titans, the Bihar CM has offered him a prize money of INR 10 lakh. Hence, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) to announce the monetary reward.

“The state government will also honour Bihar’s young cricketer Shri Vaibhav Suryavanshi with a reward of 10 lakh rupees. My best wishes are that Vaibhav sets new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the nation”, the Bihar Chief Minister wrote on X.

The Bihar Chief Minister also congratulated him for this incredible record and wished him success for the future. He also said everyone is proud of him. He also shared a photo of himself with Suryavanshi when he met him last year.

“Congratulations and best wishes to Shri Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar, who has become the youngest player (14 years old) in the history of I.P.L. to score a century. With his hard work and talent, he has emerged as a new hope for Indian cricket. Everyone is proud of him”, he further wrote.

“I had the opportunity to meet Shri Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his father at 1 Anne Marg in the year 2024, and at that time, I wished for his bright future. Meanwhile, the RR vs GT game was a must-win encounter for the Royals to keep their hopes alive for the IPL 2025 playoffs. Hence, Suryavanshi has helped the side to remain active in the league for at least some more time. He shattered 101 runs off 38 deliveries with seven boundaries and 11 sixes to power RR to an impeccable victory by eight wickets.

His opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, also added an unbeaten 70 runs during the chase. Earlier, Shubman Gill drove GT to a mammoth total of 209/4 in 1st innings. Jos Buttler also scored a crucial fifty. However, their knocks went in vain with a poor bowling attack by their bowlers in the away game.
