Breaking News: Stuart Broad to retire after Ashes 2023

Stuart Broad recently completed 600 test wickets in the fourth Ashes 2023 test against Australia at Old Trafford.
In a big surprising development at the business end of the Ashes 2023, Stuart Broad has stunned everyone with his decision. England’s legendary pace bowler Stuart Broad has announced his retirement from test cricket. Broad will be putting a brake on his 17-year-long Test cricket career for England when he will come out to bowl against Australia in the 4th Innings at the Oval. He informed everyone about his decision on the eve of the 3rd day of the 5th Ashes test at The Oval.
'Content with everything I achieved'
Talking about his retirement Stuart Broad said, “Tomorrow or Monday will be my last game of Cricket. It’s been a wonderful ride, and a huge privilege to wear the Nottinghamshire and England badge as much as I have. It’s been such a wonderful series to be part of and I have always wanted to finish at the top”. Broad, while talking about the decision to Sky Sports after the day’s play, said, “I am content with everything I have achieved”.
Finishing among leading wicket-takers in Test
Stuart Broad also informed that he made this decision on Friday around 8:30 and informed about it to his teammates James Anderson and former captain Joe Root just before going into play on Saturday morning. Broad has made a wonderful partnership in fast bowling with James Anderson. Broad completed 600 test wickets at Old Trafford in the previous Ashes 2023 test against Australia. He will be ending his test career as 5th leading wicket-taker in test cricket behind Murali, Warne, Anderson, and Kumble.
The 37-year-old pace bowler has played 167 test matches for England picking up 602 wickets so far in his test career with one more innings to go as a bowler. Not only in bowling, Broad was considered an All-rounder at the start of his career. Broad scored 3654 runs in test cricket with a century against Pakistan. Broad will also be remembered for conceding 6 sixes in an over to Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh in the inaugural T20 World Cup 2007 in South Africa.
