Brendon McCullum believes England have a nice bowling attack despite the unavailability of some key bowlers.

The platform for India’s tour of England 2025 is set, and both sides are gearing up for an exciting battle in the longest format. The Indian Cricket Team and England Cricket Team will clash with each other in five tests during the series, with the opening game set to take place at Headingley in Leeds on June 20.

The Indian Cricket Team will be led by a young and inexperienced skipper, Shubman Gill. He was appointed as the captain of the test side ahead of the England tour. Moreover, the visitors will miss the strength of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the batting department following their retirements from tests.

Ben Stokes & Co. are known to be dominant at home in the longest format of the game, and they no doubt will leave no stone unturned to dominate the visitors. However, they are also short of some key members on their side for the opening clash in the bowling department.

We are looking forward to seeing them – Brendon McCullum

Ahead of the first game, England coach Brendon McCullum fired a warning to the visiting party. He said that they are looking forward to seeing an outstanding team like India, and they are well aware of where they want to go as a team.

“They’re an outstanding cricketing nation, who will come here with high hopes, and we are looking forward to seeing them. It’s important the guys refresh. We know where we want to get to as a Test team,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Cricket.

The hosts will miss the services of pacer Mark Wood due to an injury for at least the first three tests. Moreover, Jofra Archer is likely to join the squad from the second test as he is recovering from a thumb injury. Another key pacer, Gus Atkinson, is recovering from a hamstring injury. However, McCullum believes they still have a quality bowling attack.

“There are some quality bowlers that are unavailable, but we have a nice, varied bowling attack with Chris Woakes, Sam Cook, Brydon Carse, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue for the high-pace element,” the 43-year-old said.

“We have Shoaib Bashir, who is growing in Test cricket every day. We know we are going to be tested against India, and they will arrive prepared,” the former New Zealand captain further added.

Notably, India grabbed a fabulous 4-1 victory against England last year at home. Therefore, Ben Stokes-led side will aim to avenge the defeat on their home soil in the upcoming test series. The England vs India test series will conclude with the fifth test at The Oval in London, which will start on July 31.
