Neither of head coach Rahul Dravid or NCA chief VVS Laxman will accompany team India on Ireland tour.

Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian squad will depart for Dublin on August 15th but VVS Laxman will not accompany the team as the interim head of the coaching staff.

The Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and the remaining coaching staff are in the US for the T20I series against West Indies. He will not be travelling with the Indian squad to Dublin. Earlier, it was revealed that the head of the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman, would head the team.

However, now, according to reports from Cricbuzz, other NCA coaches, including Sairaj Bahutule, would be travelling with the team and Laxman will not be a part of the tour.

Bumrah’s much-anticipated comeback

Jasprit Bumrah is all set to make an international comeback after being out of competitive cricket since September 2022.

Bumrah sustained a back injury, which needed surgery. The Indian pacer underwent back surgery in February and has been in rehab since then. He had to miss out on several Indian tours, including the World Test Championship Final against Australia. India had lost the final and ended as the runners-up for the consecutive time.

Bumrah’s comeback is also an important factor for the Indian team ahead of the home World Cup. The Ireland tour will be the key for the Indian pacer as he is expected to lead the Indian pace attack in the World Cup.

The Indian team are yet to announce the World Cup squad and a lot depends on this tour, as it will help the management to have clear insight about Bumrah’s fitness.

India will take on Ireland in three T20Is starting from August 18. The team management has announced a second string squad for the tour and they will assemble ahead of the series in two separate groups.

One part of the team will travel to Mumbai directly to Ireland along with the captain Jasprit Bumrah. The second group will join the camp after the completion of the T20I series against West Indies.
