Australia wicket-keeper Alex Carey has become a villain for England after Lord's test.

A huge controversy broke out when a few sections of English media reported that Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey has 30 pounds remaining to be paid to a barber after a haircut. Cricket Australia jumped into rubbish the rumours of Carey not paying for the barber is untrue. Cricket Australia has responded that Alex Carey has not even visited the barber. This news came after Jonny Bairstow’s controversial run-out in the second test at The Lord’s. Carey showing his presence of mind ran Bairstow out when he walked out of the crease after ducking one of Cameron Green’s bouncers. The dismissal became a huge controversy among cricket fans and experts.

Earlier a media report suggested that Carey visited Doc Barnet’s Barber Shop where the barber Adam Mahmood alleged that Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey didn’t pay his outstanding balance of 30 pounds. English leading newspaper The Sun reported the news and once again it created a huge ruckus as Alex Carey was involved. Cricket Australia admitted that one player did visit Doc Barnet’s barber shop but he made the payment via international money transfer. Australian vice-captain Steve Smith also came out in support of Alex Carey and slammed The Sun, he said, “I can confirm that Alex Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right, The Sun”

Alistair Cook apologises for his mistake

English skipper Alistair Cook also apologised for mistaken identity he said, “There’s also been a fuss around on a rainy day, a bit of news about a haircut which might have been discussed on the radio the other day. A case of mistaken identity to Alex Carey”.

Earlier Cook also played his part in spreading the misinformation on Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey. England are in a commanding position in the third test in Leeds. Australia have set a 251 runs target, but at the end of Day 3 England ended up on 27/0 with 224 still left to chase.
