Cameron Green is expected to play a crucial role for KKR at IPL 2026.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is less than a week away, and fans are on the edge of their seats due to the excitement. The opening game of the tournament will be between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Talking about Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), they will play their first game against five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, March 29, at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of the new season starting on March 28, KKR have already suffered several blows, as Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out of the season due to knee and lower back injuries, respectively.

However, in the mini-auction, they also signed Australian all-rounder Cameron Green (INR 25.20 crore) and Sri Lankan bowler Matheesha Pathirana (INR 18 crore), whose availability is still under question.

Becoming the third most expensive player in IPL history, Australian all-rounder Green will have a huge responsibility and pressure to perform. He looked in poor form in T20 World Cup 2026, where Australia faced a group stage exit.

However, before coming to India, Green scored a century for Western Australia, which would have helped the 26-year-old gain confidence ahead of the IPL 2026.

Adding more to his current form, Green showed his cricketing prowess in the practice game for KKR ahead of the 2026 IPL. The Australian all-rounder smashed 52 runs off just 30 balls in his first intra-squad practice match at Eden Gardens.

Green came to bat at three and launched an attack while eyeing a high score in the intra-squad match. As KKR are going through an injury crisis, Green’s experience becomes significantly important for the three-time champions.
