Jofra Archer posted a cryptic Instagram story from RCB cafe just few days ahead of IPL 2024 curtain-raiser.

The Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) is about to begin. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be taking on defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 22nd March to kick-off the tournament. This will mark the comeback of two star Indian cricketers in action. RCB star player Virat Kohli will be back after two months in the game, while MS Dhoni will be back on the field after a year.

English pacer Jofra Archer recently posted a cryptic story on his Instagram handle that raised big discussion around his participation in the league. Archer posted a picture from RCB cafe with RCB jersey placed in a cabinet. This fueled social media with speculations of him joining RCB ahead of IPL 2024.

Why Jofra Archer is currently in Bengaluru ?

English pacer Jofra Archer is currently in Bengaluru with his county side Sussex for pre-season camp ahead of the upcoming county season. Archer was even spotted playing as a substitute for Karnataka side during a two-day practice game in Alur. On Sunday, 17th March, Archer posted multiple photos on his Instagram handle visiting many places in the city, and one of the pictures was from RCB cafe, which has made the fans speculate him joining the franchise ahead of the upcoming IPL.

During the IPL 2022 auction, Archer despite being injured, was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 8 crores. However, he turned up for MI in the IPL 2023, but again injured his elbow after playing just five matches in the season and hence got released before IPL 2024 auction.

Can Jofra Archer participate in the IPL 2024?

No, despite being fit, Jofra Archer can’t participate in the upcoming IPL 2024 as he didn’t register his name for the auction and hence not bought by any franchise during the auction. Now he can’t even come in as replacement for any player during the entire season as only players who put their names up for auction are only allowed to come in as replacement during the season.

It will be interesting to see if Archer can make it to England squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will be played in West Indies and the United States of America in the month of June.
