Canada qualified for ICC T20 World Cup 2026 through Americas regional qualifiers.
The Canada Cricket Team on Sunday (22nd June) qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. They became the 13th team to qualify for the tournament, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka in early 2026.
Canada qualified for the next year’s ICC T20 World Cup after registering a seven-wicket win over the Bahamas in Ontario in the Americas regional qualifying finals. This was their fifth consecutive win in the tournament, which includes four teams in Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Bahamas and Canada.
With the win against the Bahamas, Canada booked the spot in the top two in the points table, irrespective of the results of the last two games. This will be the second consecutive time that they will be playing the T20 World Cup. They played the 2024 edition in the West Indies and the USA via the same route.
The other teams qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 are: India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, USA and West Indies. Apart from them seven more teams – two from the Europe qualifier, two from the Africa qualifier, and three from the Asia-EAP qualifier will join them

They bundled out the opposition for just 57 in 19.5 overs, with Kaleem Sana being the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/6 from his four overs. Ansh Patel 2/7 and Shivam Sharma 3/16 were also magnificent with the ball.
Canada then made a mockery of the chase as they went past the target in just 5.3 overs. Dilpreet Bajwa top-scored with an unbeaten 36 off 14 balls. Their next game will be against Bermuda on Sunday, which will be their last game in the tournament.
Canada have been a dominating side in the tournament. They have registered wins by margins of 110 runs, 59 runs, ten wickets, 42 runs and seven wickets. They would be keen to win their last game as well and end the four-team event undefeated and enter the next year’s T20 World Cup on a high.
