4 capped Indian players who have been included in the squad for Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024

Indian cricket team won the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in 2013.

The Emerging Asia Cup is a great initiative taken by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in order to provide a platform for promising star cricketers to showcase their skills and talent at the big stage. 

The Indian cricket team won the inaugural edition in 2013. Their arch-rivals Pakistan won the last two titles. In 2023, Pakistan defeated India in the grand finale and successfully defended their crown.

The Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 will be played in Oman from October 18 to October 27. The 2024 edition will be the first time the showpiece event will be played in T20 format. Previously, all five editions were held in 50-over format.

As many as eight teams will participate in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024, including the likes of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, that will be held in Oman.

The Indian side have named 15-member strong squad for the Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. The squad features IPL stars like Ayush Badoni, Prabhsimran Singh, and Nehal Wadhera.

Interestingly, there are four cricketers in the squad, who have already made their international debut for India and are still part of the squad.

1. Tilak Varma

The 21-year-old Tilak Varma will captain the young Indian squad in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024 tournament. The left-handed batter has already made his international debut for India in white-ball formats.

The southpaw made his T20I debut against the West Indies in August 2023. Varma made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in September 2023.

Since then, Varma has played four ODIs and 16 T20Is. The 21-year-old has scored 68 runs in ODIs and 336 runs in the shortest format.

2. Abhishek Sharma

Rising cricketer Abhishek Sharma had a stunning run with the bat for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2024. The left-handed batter played 16 matches and smashed 484 runs at an explosive strike rate of 204.21.

For his fearless approach, Sharma got his maiden India T20I call-up during the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Since then, the Southpaw has played eight T20Is and scored 159 runs at an impressive strike rate of 170.96, including one century. He is also part of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024 squad.

3. Sai Kishore

Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore made his T20I debut for the national side against Nepal during the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition in 2023.

Since then, Kishore has represented India in three T20Is. The 27-year-old spinner has bagged four wickets at an economy of 5.25. Kishore is also part of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024 squad.

4. Rahul Chahar

The 25-year-old Rahul Chahar made his India T20I debut against the West Indies in August 2019 and his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in July 2021. Since then, the leg-spinner has represented the Indian national side in six T20Is and one ODI.

Chahar has bagged seven wickets at an economy of 7.59 in T20Is and picked three wickets in ODIs till now. The 25-year-old is the fourth-capped Indian cricketer who will take part in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024.
