In these 83 games, he held a batting average of 45.35 and a strike rate of 140.53, slamming one century and 32 half-centuries. Warner captained Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in his IPL career.
4. Gautam Gambhir – 3518 runs

Gautam Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to two titles in the 2012 and 2014 editions. He also led the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) after parting ways with KKR.
In 127 innings as captain, the left-handed batsman mustered 3518 runs at an average of 31.13 and a strike rate of 122.79. He also hammered 31 fifties, including a highest score of 93 runs for KKR in the 2012 edition.
3. Rohit Sharma- 3986 runs

Rohit Sharma is the joint-most successful captain in IPL history, who led the Mumbai Indians (MI) to five trophies. He led the team from 2013 to 2023, scoring 3986 runs in 157 innings at an average of 28.07 and a strike rate of 129.37.
During his tenure as MI skipper, the right-handed batsman also scored 25 half-centuries, including a highest score of 98.
2. MS Dhoni – 4753 runs

Although MS Dhoni holds the record for most matches as captain in IPL (235 games), he gets the second spot when it comes to scoring runs.
Dhoni captained Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG) from 2008 to 2025, hitting 4753 runs in 204 innings at an average of 38.64 and a strike rate of 137.05. This also includes 22 half-centuries with a top score of unbeaten 84.

Virat Kohli has been part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) since the maiden edition in 2008 and led the side from 2013 to 2023. In 142 innings as RCB leader, the right-handed batter piled up 4994 runs at an average of 41.96 and a strike rate of 133.31. He also scored five centuries and 37 half-centuries.
