With more than 9000 runs, Virat Kohli is the most successful batsman in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The right-handed batsman has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) since the maiden edition, with the franchise retaining him over the years.

Kohli is one of the most consistent batsmen in the IPL and owns many batting records. He has slammed nine centuries in the IPL, which is most by any batter. Out of his nine tons, three came while chasing. Below, we take a glance at Virat Kohli’s centuries while chasing in the IPL.

1. 108* vs RPS (IPL 2016)

Virat Kohli unleashed his best in the 2016 season, where he also set the record for most runs by a batsman in a single edition (973). In the 35th match of the tournament against now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants, the then RCB skipper hammered a ton while chasing.

Pune, led by MS Dhoni, posted 191/6 in the first innings. Kohli rocked the Chinnaswamy Stadium as an opener, smacking an unbeaten 108 runs off 58 deliveries with seven sixes. With his century, he took his team home by seven wickets.

2. 100 vs SRH (IPL 2023)

RCB and SRH clashed in the 65th match of IPL 2023 on May 18 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. On account of a century by Heinrich Klaasen, Sunrisers posted 186/5 in the first innings.

Later, Kohli came up with the magnificent effort, scoring 100 runs off 63 deliveries. He made an opening stand of 172 runs with Faf du Plessis (71), who also scored a half-century. RCB won the clash by eight wickets and Kohli was adjudged Player of the Match for his heroics.

3. 105* vs KKR (IPL 2026)

Kohli’s third century in a chase came in the 2026 edition. RCB locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 57th match at Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. After being asked to bat first, KKR posted 192/4 in the first innings with a half-century by Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

Virat took the charge of the chase in his hand, smashing an unbeaten 105 runs off 60 deliveries with 11 fours and three sixes. He took the team to victory by six wickets and was awarded Player of the Match for his spectacular performance.
