IPL chairman Arun Dhumal reveals IPL 2024 final date

Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game of the IPL 2024 on March 22.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will start on March 22 and will be played entirely in India, despite the high-voltage games clashing with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The schedule for first phase of the tournament has already been announced by the BCCI. A total of 21 matches will be played from March 21 to April 7.
However, the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and the Caribbean throws another variable into the mix. The global tournament will kick off on June 2nd, placing immense pressure on the IPL to wrap up before then.
With the elections likely to be held in April and May, IPL 2024 is bound to coincide with the general elections. This could result in increased workloads for players as IPL chairman Arun Dhumal hinted the final date of the upcoming cash-rich league.
Arun Dhumal reveals IPL 2024 final date
The opening fixture of the IPL 2024 will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 22nd March in Chennai.
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal stressed the importance of the upcoming T20 World Cup in June, which will be followed by the IPL 2024 final. Dhumal said that the cash-rich league final will be either scheduled on May 25th or 26th.
“This time the challenge is that we are starting with the T20 World Cup in the first week of June, and we were planning to close the tournament by May 25 or May 26 as the team will have to travel to the US and that’s a different territory altogether,” Arun Dhumal said in an interview with Sportstar.
Dhumal also added that the T20 World Cup will be played for the first time in the USA, so the players will need to be early there to have some sort of practice matches before the tournament begins.
“For the first time, the tournament (T20 WC) will be held there and it’s a new thing, so the players need to be there early to have some sort of practice games ahead of the tournament,” he added.
