ICC CEO Geoff Allardice spoke at an event in the UAE.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Geoff Allardice has stated that there are no plans or suggestions yet to move the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 out of Pakistan. This is a huge comment from the ICC CEO amid the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah becoming the new chairman of the ICC.

Earlier, many media outlets reported the Champions Trophy 2025 could be moved out of Pakistan or might be played in a hybrid model with Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates considered as potential venues. This is because the Indian cricket team is not likely to travel to Pakistan due to the political tensions between the two nations.

A few months ago, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) submitted the draft schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to the ICC. In the first draft, the tournament is scheduled to be played from February 19 to March 9 next year. The first draft by PCB also stated that all the matches of the Indian cricket team would be played in Lahore to avoid any logistical hassles.

Recently, during a media interaction in the UAE, ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice clarified that the Champions Trophy 2025 is on track to be played in Pakistan. Allardice said that there haven’t been any instructions or information that suggested the tournament will not be played in Pakistan.

“At this stage, the tournament has been given to the Pakistan Cricket Board. We haven’t been given any information to suggest that it will not be held there,” Allardice said.

“Our team always visits venues ahead of the tournament. They have had visits over the previous months and there will be more visits ahead of the tournament,” the ICC CEO added.
