India have made two changes to their playing XI for the 2nd test against South Africa.

The second test between Indian Cricket Team and South Africa Cricket Team commenced on Saturday, November 22 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. While South Africa aim for a clean sweep in the encounter, India look forward to making a comeback as they trail 1-0 in the two-match series.

Indian faced a big blow as captain Shubman Gill was ruled out of the match with neck injury. The Indian captain sustained injury while batting in the previous test and had to leave the field immediately. He was later ruled out of the game, which took place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

In his absence, vice-captain Rishabh Pant got the opportunity to lead the team but the poor toss luck still remained same for India. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bat first for the second consecutive time in the series.

At the toss, stand-in captain Pant revealed that India have made two changes to their playing XI. Gill was ruled out due to injury and all-rounder Axar Patel was not picked for the clash, getting replaced by Sai Sudharsan and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Pant also revealed that Gill was very eager to play the match.

“We feel the wicket is good for batting. But at the same time, bowling first is not a bad option either. Shubman is getting well slowly, slowly. He was very eager to play the match. But at the same time, his body didn’t allow it. He’s going to come back stronger. Instead of Shubman, Nitish Reddy comes in. And for Axar, Sai Sudharsan comes in,” Pant said.

Proteas captain Bavuma, on the other hand, confirmed that they have made one change to their XI, replacing all-rounder Corbin Bosch with Senuran Muthusamy.

India (Playing XI): KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
