Cheteshwar Pujara retires: Check his numbers in test cricket

Cheteshwar Pujara played 103 tests for India from 2010 to 2023.
Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Sunday, August 24. Pujara finished as one of the greatest test batters to play for the Indian Cricket Team, who featured in more than 100 games in his career.
Pujara made his international debut in 2010 in a test match against Australia. His last match came during the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final against Australia in June 2023. In his 14-year-long career, he played 103 tests and scored 7,195 runs at an average of 43.60.
For more than a decade, he was India’s most reliable No. 3 batsman in tests. The right-handed batsman played a key role during India’s back-to-back test series victories in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
While Pujara was quite successful in overseas conditions, he held a marvellous record at home. In 51 tests at home, he amassed 3839 runs at an average of 52.58, hammering 10 centuries. He also held an impressive record in Australia, scoring 993 runs in 21 innings at an average of 47.28.
Notably, Pujara played a vital role during India’s journey to the finals of ICC WTC 2019-21 and ICC WTC 2021-23. After India’s defeat in the ICC WTC 2021-23 final against Australia, Pujara was dropped from the test side, owing to poor form. After that, he didn’t get a call back again as selectors moved on from him.
However, he kept grinding hard and continued to play First-Class (FC) cricket for his domestic team Saurashtra as well as the county cricket..
