Morris started by picking the T20 World Cup 2024-winning skipper, Rohit Sharma, and legendary West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle as his two openers.
India test and ODI captain Rohit announced his T20I retirement after lifting the T20 World Cup 2024 title. Rohit ended his illustrious T20I career with 4231 runs in 159 matches, including five T20I centuries and 32 half-centuries.
At No. 3, the former all-rounder picked South African legend AB de Villiers. De Villiers played 78 T20Is for the South African cricket team and amassed 1672 runs at an average of 26.12, including 10 half-centuries.
Morris said, “At three, probably my best player, I would put him in, because he needs to face more balls than anyone, and that’s AB de Villiers.”
Morris placed modern-day batting legend Virat Kohli in the No. 4 spot. After lifting the T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli announced his retirement from the shortest format. In 125 matches, the right-handed batter scored 4188 runs, including one century and 38 half-centuries.
Morris then chose West Indies all-rounder Kerion Pollard at No. 5 and former India captain MS Dhoni at No. 6 followed by all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
In the spin department, Morris included off-spinner Sunil Narine. In the pace department, Morris picked the lethal trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, and Brett Lee.
