The closing ceremony of the IPL 2025 will be held in Ahmedabad on 3rd June.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a big step for the Indian Armed Forces. The governing body will dedicate the closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 to the security personnel in the wake of Operation Sindoor.
The closing ceremony of IPL 2025 will see the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Navy Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff gracing the occasion. The event will take place before the final, which will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3.
The IPL 2025 closing ceremony will be based on a patriotic theme and will feature a performance by the military bands, followed by a musical ceremony. This comes after the Indian Armed Forces launched an attack on terrorist groups in Pakistan after the innocents were killed in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir.
As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony of IPL 2025 to the armed forces – BCCI secretary Devajit Saika
BCCI secretary Devajit Saika confirmed the development, lauding the Indian Armed Forces for protecting and inspiring the nation. He also added that there is nothing greater than the nation and its sovereignty. Speaking to Sportstar, he said:
“The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation. As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces.”
“While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country.”
IPL 2025 was also postponed for about a week due to tensions between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor. However, ever since the league resumed, the BCCI has left no stone unturned in giving tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.
Before the start of the games, the national anthem was played and also messages of ‘Thank you, armed forces’ were displayed on the big screen. Also, several big players shared stories on their social media accounts to thank the Armed forces.
This, however, is not the first time that BCCI has paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces through the ceremony. During the opening ceremony of the IPL 2019, BCCI invited the military band and also gave INR 20 crore for the welfare of the armed forces in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.
