Harsha Bhogle, Matthew Hayden and Kevin Pietersen reveal their IPL 2023 Team of the Tournament

Chennai Super Kings won their fifth IPL title by defeating GT by 5 wickets (DLS).

The Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) concluded on a very high note. In the end, it was MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings who produced a magnificent effort and went on to clinch their fifth title in the league. 

In the aftermath, Star Sports commentators Harsha Bhogle, Matthew Hayden, and Kevin Pietersen picked their team of the tournament for the IPL 2023.

First was Harsha Bhogle, who went for Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal as his openers, given that one scored 890 runs with 3 centuries and the other made 625 runs with one century and the fastest ever IPL fifty in 13 balls.

Cameron Green, Heinrich Klaasen, Rashid Khan, and Matheesha Pathirana were Bhogle’s picks for foreign players. Klaasen was the saving grace for the Sunrisers in their pathetic IPL 2023 outing, and Rashid Khan was excellent for GT in the entire tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav had an excellent season despite a slow start with over 600 runs and his maiden IPL ton. Rinku Singh was the standout player in the IPL 2023 due to his finishing abilities. Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj picked wickets for their teams in powerplays, while Pathirana picked wickets in the death.

Matthew Hayden picks his team of the tournament for IPL 2023; leaves out Virat Kohli

Former Australia and Chennai Super Kings openers Matthew Hayden named his IPL 2023 team of the tournament but the name of Virat Kohli was missing from it. Interestingly, he has given a place to Mahendra Singh Dhoni more for his captaincy than his batting.

Hayden has picked Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad as his opening batters. For number three, Faf Du Plessis is his main choice who has carried the RCB batting in this entire tournament. For number four, Mumbai India’s star middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has made the spot.

He then picked Cameron Green and Ravindra Jadeja as all-rounders, while the Afghan duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad were the spinners.

As for the pacers, he went with the GT combination of Mohammad Shami and Mohit Sharma.

Kevin Pietersen’s IPL 2023 Team of the Tournament sees no MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja

Kevin Pietersen surprised everyone with his choice of IPL 2023 team of the tournament as has not given the spot to the players like Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who were responsible for CSK’s fifth title win.

Faf Du Plessis and Shubman Gill are his preferred openers. Number three has been grabbed by Virat Kohli. Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians, South African batter Heinrich Klaasen who plays for SRH, and Rinku Singh of KKR make up the middle order.

Rashid Khan and Axar Patel are the spinners in his XI, while Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Matheesha Pathirana were the choices for fast bowlers.
