Corbin Bosch ditched PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi to play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
The decision to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has put South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch in hot waters. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to sue the South African all-rounder.
In the PSL 10 draft, Corbin Bosch was first selected by Peshawar Zalmi, a PSL team. His subsequent signing with the Mumbai Indians (MI) as a replacement player disqualified him from the PSL 2025 season.
The circumstance arose since this year’s games in both leagues will be played concurrently. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan hosted during that time, caused the PSL, which was formerly contested in February or March each year, to postpone its date this year.
Corbin Bosch gets legal notice from PCB to explain his actions of leaving PSL 10 for IPL 2025
During the PSL 2025 draft in January in Lahore, Peshawar Zalmi signed Corbin Bosch in the diamond category. But in the MI lineup, he took Lizaad Williams’ place due to injury. MI made the news on March 8.
Because they are concerned that it would set a precedent for the players in the future, the PSL teams have decided to sue Bosch. During their conversation, the franchises also talked about the possibility of a complete ban on certain players.
The PCB has sent Corbin Bosch a legal notice and asked him to explain his behavior. The all-rounder has also been made aware of the potential consequences by the board in the future in PSL.
“The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments. The PCB management has also outlined the repercussions of his departure from the league and expects his response within the stipulated time frame. The PCB will not make any further comments on the matter,” the PCB statement read.
Although the PCB has requested a legitimate explanation from Bosch, they have not specified a deadline for the all-rounder’s response. How he responds and manages the tricky situation is still up in the air.
Possible reason behind Corbin Bosch’s decision: Shift in PSL 10 schedule?
The possible reason for Corbin Bosch to ditch PSL 10 for IPL 2025 can be the shift of the PSL scheduled to clash with the IPL. The PSL 2025 will take place from April 11 to May 18, while the IPL 2025 will be held from March 22 to May 25.
In addition to moving the PSL window to accommodate the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the PCB did so to guarantee that players from outside will be available.
The PSL had competition from other T20 competitions, including the SA20, BPL, and ILT20, for the availability of international players during the previous window. To guarantee the availability of foreign players, the PSL draft was held following the IPL auction.
