The first Ashes 2025-26 test between Australia and England lasted just two days.
The first test of Ashes 2025-26 between the Australian Cricket Team and the England Cricket Team was nothing short of exceptional. It was a fast-paced game, which took place at the Perth Stadium in Perth and ended in just two days.
Travis Head’s mayhem with the bat was one of the major reasons behind the match getting ended on day two itself. In the chase of 205 on a tough pitch, the batter made a mockery of the opposition and slammed one of the fastest test centuries for Australia to take the game away from the opposition.
With the first Ashes test getting concluded in just two days, Cricket Australia is all set to face an estimated loss of more than $3m from ticket revenue for days three and four. The Perth Stadium was packed on the first two days with 101,514 people attending the match.
51,531 were there on Friday and 49,983 on Saturday, surpassing the record set of 96,463 in Perth last year when India won in four days. The reports in the Guardian claimed that day three was almost sold out but Cricket Australia will refund all those. This comes after CA announced a loss of $11.3m at the annual general meeting last month.
Feel sorry for the people who can’t come tomorrow – Travis Head after Australia’s win on day two

Speaking after the game, Travis Head said that it was an amazing match to be part of but he feels sorry for people who can’t come tomorrow.
“Feel sorry for the people who can’t come tomorrow. I think it was a full house again,” he told the Seven Network after the match.
Coming to the match, Australia paved their way to an eight-wicket win from a position, where it looked like they would lose. The match saw England batting first and posting just 172, courtesy of Mitchell Starc’s seven-fer. Then Australia also had a horrible outing with the bat, getting all out for 132.
With a lead of 40, England were expected to set a big target. However, another batting collapse ruined their chances as they got all out for just 164, setting 205 for Australia, which they chased on the back of Travis Head’s ton and Marnus Labuschagne’s unbeaten fifty.
