Making an international debut is always a dream for any cricketer. But only a few of those come close to playing a game for their country. But then there are a few greats who make it even bigger. Here we are talking about those players who have scored 10,000 or more runs in ODI cricket.

There are 15 players who have scored more than 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of the tree. Rohit Sharma is nearing entering this elite club of batters. Out of those 15, six are Indian batters, including the former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who is the fastest among all. Virat completed 10,000 ODI runs in just 205 innings.

Here are the 15 cricketers who have scored 10,000 or more runs in ODIs:

15. Rohit Sharma:

Rohit Sharma is the 15th batsman to score 10,000 or more runs in ODI cricket. He is also the sixth Indian to achieve this landmark. Rohit has played 248 games so far and scored more than 10,000 runs at an average of 49.02 and a strike rate of 90.14. He has also scored 30 centuries and 50 half-centuries, with a best of 264.

Former Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan had a glorious career across formats. He is one of those Sri Lankan batters to score a hundred across three formats. Dilshan played 330 ODIs and scored 10290 runs at an average of 39.27 with a best of 161 runs not out. He also scored 22 hundreds and 47 half-centuries.

Brain Lara was the best batter from West Indies in the last generation. He is the only player to score 400 in single innings in test cricket history. Speaking of his ODI records, he is a run-machine. Lara played 289 ODI innings and scored 10405 runs at an average of 40.48, with a best of 169. He also scored 19 centuries and 63 half-centuries.

There are not many who can match the hitting ability Chris Gayle brought to the table. In his face, he was one of the most fierce batters of all time. Gayle is one of the few with an ODI double century. He played 301 ODIs and scored 10480 runs at 37.83, with a best of 215. He scored 25 centuries and 54 half-centuries.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni was not just a great captain, he was also a brilliant batsman. His numbers in 50-overs cricket are incredible. He was one of the few betters within an average of over 50 and 10,000 ODI runs. Dhoni played 297 innings and scored 10773 runs at an average of 50.57, with a best of 183. He also scored 10 centuries and 73 half-centuries.

Rahul Dravid was not just a test batsman, he was also a brilliant ODI batsman. Dravid was the sixth-fastest batter to reach 10,000 ODI runs. He played 318 innings and scored 10889 runs at an average of 39.17, with a best of 153, including 12 centuries and 83 half centuries.

9. Sourav Ganguly :

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was one of the most brilliant ODI batsmen that India has produced. He was an aggressive opener who loved to take on bowling. Ganguly played 300 innings and scored 11363 runs at an average of 41.02 with a best of 183, including 22 centuries and 72 half-centuries.

Jacques Kallis was the biggest superstar that South Africa have produced in its cricketing history. He can fit in with any team in the world. Kallis played 328 ODIs and scored 11579 runs at an average of 44.36, with a best of 139. He also scored 17 centuries and 86 half-centuries. Don't forget, he also took 273 wickets with the ball.

Inzamam-ul-Haq was the best ODI batsman from Pakistan in the previous generation. He was the most consistent player and a true match-winner. Inzamam played 378 ODIs and scored 11739 runs at an average of 39.52. He also scored 10 centuries and 83 half centuries, with a best of 137 not out.

Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene was one of the few batters to score a century in all three formats. On the other hand, he is one of the highest run scorers in international cricket. Jayawardene scored 12650 runs in 448 ODIs at an average of 33.37 with a best of 144, including 19 centuries and 77 half-centuries.

The former Indian captain Virat Kohli is the fastest batsman to reach 10,000 runs; he just took 205 innings to complete this milestone. Virat is still going great, and we might see him among the top 3 when he retires. He has played 266 innings so far and scored 12902 runs at an average of 57.08, with a best of 183. Virat has already scored 46 hundreds and 65 half centuries.

4. Sanath Jayasuriya:

Sanath Jayasuriya is the only player in ODI cricket history to score over 13,000 runs and take more than 300 wickets. Jayasuriya played 445 ODIs and scored 13430 runs at an average of 32.36, with a high score of 189. The left-hander also scored 28 centuries and 68 half-centuries. He also took 323 wickets with the ball.

Now it is time for Australia's best all-format batsman. Ricky Ponting is one of the two captains to lead a country to win two ODI World Cups back-to-back. Ponting played 375 ODIs in his career and scored 13704 runs at an average of 42.03, with 30 centuries and 64 half-centuries for a best of 164.

Kumar Sangakkara was a run-machine when it came to international cricket in any form of the game. He had some incredible records, which are not easy to touch. The left-hander played 404 ODIs and scored 14234 runs at an average of 41.98, with a best of 169. He scored 25 hundreds and 93 half centuries in his ODI career.

Now it comes to the player who is at the top of all the records. Sachin Tendulkar scored the most runs, played the most matches, and scored the most centuries and half-centuries. Sachin was the first batter to score an ODI double century. He played 463 ODIs and scored 18426 runs at an average of 44.83, with the best of 200 runs not out. Sachin also scored 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries.
