"Heartbroken beyond words"- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli lead reactions as cricket fraternity mourns tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad

As per various media reports, more than 120 people are dead, while several others were seriously injured in the Air India plane crash.
A devastating incident took place in Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday (12th June). An Air India flight carrying over 240 passengers to London crashed just a few minutes after taking off, and a massive explosion took place in the residential area nearby.
In what has been one of the deadliest air disasters in the country in nearly three decades, the flight that took off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad had 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese and one Canadian passenger on board. The visuals of the plane crash went viral on the internet and left the entire nation in shock.
So far, there is no clarity about how many people have lost their lives, but as per various media reports, more than 120 people are dead, while several others are seriously injured. The plane crashed in a doctor’s hostel, and it is learned that around 20 medical students have lost their lives.
The Air India airline also released the official statement, saying:
“Air India confirms that flight AI171, from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident today after take-off. The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft.”
“Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals. The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals. We have also set up a dedicated passenger hotline number, 1800 5691 444, to provide more information. Air India is giving its full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident.”
