Dada led the Indian team in a total of 195 international matches.

Sourav Ganguly celebrates his 51st birthday on July 8, 2023. The former Indian captain is regarded as one of the best captains to have led the country at the highest level. He was born on July 8, 1972, in Kolkata, West Bengal. It will not be a wrong statement to say that he was probably one of the first Indian captains to lead the country to victory in overseas games.

Dada had a remarkable international career that spanned 16 years, and under his leadership, India made it to the final of the 2003 ODI World Cup as well. He was an aggressive captain and ruled the field with his talent, dedication, and determination. One of the biggest qualities of his captaincy was that he groomed many players like MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, and Harbhajan Singh, and the rest is history.

Sourav Ganguly made his debut in January 1992 against West Indies in an ODI game. He made his test debut against England in June 1996 at Lord's and scored a century in his debut inning. Ganguly made 131 runs and picked up three wickets with the ball in his first test. As he is celebrating his 51st birthday, the cricket fraternity also wishes him.

Later, he led India to test series wins in the West Indies, England, Australia, and Pakistan. Under his leadership, India played 49 Tests, winning 21, losing 13, and 15 games ending in a draw.

He also led India to 146 ODIs and registered 76 wins, 65 defeats, and five matches that ended without a result. In his career, he played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for India. He scored 7212 runs with 16 centuries and 35 half-centuries in test cricket. In ODIs, Sourav Ganguly scored 11363 runs with 22 centuries, 72 half-centuries, and 100 wickets with the ball as well.
