The Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) will start on March 28, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their first game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The encounter will take place at ACA Stadium in Guwahati on March 30.
The Men-in-Yellow will aim for a strong comeback in the tournament after witnessing a horrible show last season. They failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished last on the points table with just 4 wins from 14 matches.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was ruled out of the last season after the first five games due to an elbow injury, will be back to lead the team in IPL 2026. On the other hand, veteran MS Dhoni will play one more season for the franchise.
Moreover, Chennai Super Kings have also bought wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson into their squad through a trade deal with Rajasthan Royals (RR). They traded out Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan for Samson.
In the IPL 2026 mini-auction, CSK bought youngsters Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer for a whopping INR 14.20 crore. They also picked spinner Rahul Chahar and New Zealand’s star pacer Matt Henry into their squad.
Matthew Short and Akeal Hosein were other popular names that the Super Kings bought in the mini-auction. Gaikwad, Dewald Brewis, Matthew Short, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni, and Samson are a few crucial batters in their squad. In the bowling department, Matt Henry, Akeal Hosein, Nathan Ellis, Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, and Rahul Chahar are prominent names.
