The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), have garnered immense attention not only for their on-field prowess but also for the financial investments made in assembling a formidable squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The salaries of CSK cricketers for the IPL 2024 season reveals a mix of experienced stalwarts and emerging talents, highlighting the franchise’s commitment to maintaining a balanced and competitive team.

25. Ajay Mandal – ₹20 lakhs:

Ajay Mandal joined Chennai Super Kings as a batting all-rounder for the IPL 2023 season and has been retained for IPL 2024 with a contract worth 20 lakhs. Despite being part of the team, Ajay Mandal has not made his debut in the IPL yet.

24. Shaik Rasheed – ₹20 lakhs:

CSK brought in Shaik Rasheed for the 2023 IPL season, though he didn’t get a chance to debut. Nevertheless, he has been retained for the 2024 season with a contract worth 20 lakhs, and will be looking to make his debut in the 2024 season.

23. Matheesha Pathirana – ₹20 lakhs:

In April 2022, Matheesha Pathirana joined the Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Adam Milne in the 2022 Indian Premier League. Since then, he has delivered impressive performances for CSK under the leadership of Dhoni. With 21 wickets in 14 matches, 19 of which were from the last season, he has showcased his bowling prowess. The Chennai Super Kings retained him ahead of the IPL 2024 auction and he will earn Rs. 20 lakhs during the IPL 2024.

22. Simarjeet Singh – ₹20 lakhs:

Simarjeet Singh, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, is a member of the Chennai Super Kings squad for IPL 2024. Over the course of his IPL career, he has participated in six matches and claimed four wickets. Initially acquired by CSK for INR 20 lakhs in the IPL 2022 Auction, he played in the 2022 season but was unable to feature in the 2023 season. Despite this, CSK retained him for 20 lakhs for the IPL 2024 season.

21. Tushar Deshpande – ₹20 lakhs:

Tushar Deshpande was acquired by CSK for his base price of INR 20 lakhs during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Prior to joining CSK, Tushar had previously represented the Delhi Capitals, playing in 5 IPL games. In his IPL career, he has participated in a total of 23 matches, taking 25 wickets, with a significant contribution of 21 wickets coming in the last IPL season in 2023. CSK retained him for 20 lakhs for the IPL 2024 season.

20. Mukesh Choudhary – ₹20 lakhs:

Left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary was acquired by CSK in the 2022 auction. He featured in 13 matches during the 2022 season, showcasing his prowess by taking 16 wickets. Unfortunately, he couldn’t participate in the 2023 season due to an injury. Despite this setback, CSK retained him for the IPL 2024 season, securing his services for 20 lakhs.

19. Avanish Rao Aravelly – ₹20 lakhs:

Avanish Rao Aravelly, an 18-year-old left-handed wicket-keeper batter known for his middle-order prowess, originates from Hyderabad. Building a reputation as a middle-order destroyer, he has showcased his skills while playing for Hyderabad and the India Under-19 teams. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought the talented teenager for his base price of 20 lakhs in the IPL 2024 auction.

18. Ajinkya Rahane – ₹50 lakhs:

Ajinkya Rahane, acquired by CSK for 50 lakhs in the IPL 2023 auction, delivered an impressive performance during that season, playing 14 matches and scoring 326 runs. His noteworthy contribution led CSK to retain him for the 2024 season at the same price of 50 lakhs.

17. Nishant Sindhu – ₹60 lakhs:

Nishant Sindhu, an all-rounder, was purchased by CSK for 60 lakhs in the IPL 2023 auction. Despite not making his debut in the previous season, he got retained by CSK for 60 lakhs for the 2024 season.

16. Maheesh Theekshana – ₹70 lakhs:

Sri Lankan player Maheesh Theekshana was acquired by CSK in the 2022 IPL auction for 70 lakhs. Over the past two seasons, he has delivered impressive performances, featuring in 22 matches and claiming 23 wickets. His consistent contributions led CSK to retain him for 70 lakhs for the IPL 2024 season.

15. Devon Conway – ₹1 crore:

New Zealand’s Devon Conway was acquired by CSK in the IPL 2022 auction for 1 crore. Over the past two seasons, he has delivered impressive performances, amassing 924 runs in 23 matches. His consistent and impactful contributions led CSK to retain him for the IPL 2024 season for the same price of 1 crore.

14. Prashant Solanki – ₹1.2 crores:

Young right-arm leg-spinner Prashant Solanki was acquired by CSK in the IPL 2022 auction for 1.20 crores. Despite playing only two matches in the 2022 season, where he took two wickets, he hasn’t featured for CSK since. However, the franchise has shown confidence in his potential by retaining him for 1.2 crores for the IPL 2024 season.

13. Rajvardhan Hangargekar – ₹1.50 crores:

Rajvardhan Hangargekar joined the Chennai Super Kings in the 2022 IPL auction. Although he had to wait for one more season to make his debut, he eventually played 2 matches in the 2023 season, securing 3 wickets. CSK retained him for 1.50 crore for the IPL 2024.

12. Rachin Ravindra – ₹1.80 crores:

Rachin Ravindra, who showcased his talent as a star player in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 for New Zealand, was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings in the player auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League, securing a contract worth 1.80 crores. With anticipation building, he aims to make his IPL debut in 2024, eager to leave a significant impact.

11. Mitchell Santner – ₹1.90 crores:

Mitchell Santner, acquired by CSK for 50 lakhs in IPL 2022 mega auction, has been retained by the franchise for the 2024 season with a significant contract worth 1.9 crores. Despite playing only 15 matches since 2022 and securing 13 wickets until 2023, CSK have shown confidence in him for the IPL 2024.

10. Mustafizur Rahman – ₹2 crores:

Mustafizur Rahman, released by Delhi Capitals after the 2023 IPL season, where he played for two seasons, has been acquired by CSK for a substantial 2 crores for the 2024 IPL season. With a track record of 48 matches and 47 wickets in the IPL, he will bring valuable experience to the Chennai Super Kings.

9. Shivam Dube – ₹4 crores:

Shivam Dube, acquired by CSK for 4 crores in 2022, has been a consistent performer for the franchise over the past two seasons. Accumulating 707 runs in 27 matches, his impressive contributions have led to CSK retaining him for the 2024 IPL season with a significant investment of 4 crores.

8. Shardul Thakur – ₹4 crores:

Following a less-than-satisfactory performance in the 2023 season, Shardul Thakur was released by KKR. However, for the 2024 IPL season, he secured a spot in the CSK squad. Thakur comes with a wealth of experience, having been a part of the CSK franchise from 2018 to 2022.

Across these IPL seasons, he actively participated in 86 matches and impressively taken 89 wickets. Thakur’s return to CSK promises to bring a combination of seasoned skills and bowling expertise to the team once more.

7. Ruturaj Gaikwad – ₹6 crores:

Ruturaj Gaikwad was acquired by CSK for 20 lakhs in 2019, and then he was retained for INR 6 crores before the IPL 2022 mega auction and since then, he has been a consistent performer for the franchise. Having played in 52 matches, Gaikwad has amassed a total of 1797 runs. Notably, he has represented CSK throughout his IPL career and will continue to do so, having been retained by the team for the IPL 2024 for 6 crores.

6. Moeen Ali – ₹8 crores:

Moeen Ali was first bought by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 7 crores in the IPL 2021 auction and then got retained for 8 crores before the IPL 2022 mega auction. Over his IPL career, he has played for both RCB and CSK, initially starting with RCB. With a total of 59 matches played, Moeen Ali has scored 1034 runs and taken 33 wickets. Notably, CSK retained him for 8 crores for the IPL 2024.

5. Sameer Rizvi – ₹8.40 crores:

Sameer Rizvi, a talented young batter from Uttar Pradesh, was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings for a staggering 8.40 crores in the auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League tournament. He emerged as the highest-earning, most expensive uncapped player in the 2024 IPL auction. Rizvi will be looking to make an instant impact for the franchise with his promising talent and potential.

4. MS Dhoni – ₹12 crores:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a cricketing legend who has clinched the IPL trophy five times with CSK, is likely to play his last season in the IPL. Throughout his illustrious IPL career, Dhoni has exclusively represented CSK and briefly played for Rising Pune Supergiants. He joined Pune from CSK in 2016 but returned to CSK in 2018 for a whopping 15 crores.

Since then, he has been an integral part of CSK. Dhoni has featured in 250 matches, accumulating 5082 runs, and aims to conclude his IPL career with another title. Notably, he voluntarily took a salary cut to 12 crores before IPL 2022 mega auction and has been retained at the same price for the 2024 season.

3. Daryl Mitchell – ₹14 crores:

Daryl Mitchell secured a significant contract with CSK for 14 crores in the IPL 2024 auction, representing the highest bid by CSK in this auction. Coming off an impressive performance in the 2023 World Cup, Mitchell, who had previous stints with RR, is determined to make a substantial impact for CSK in the IPL 2024.

Deepak Chahar has been a consistent presence in CSK since 2018. After playing until 2022, he was once again acquired by CSK for a significant amount of 14 crores. With an impressive record of 73 matches and 72 wickets in his IPL career, he has been retained by the franchise for the IPL 2024 at the same price of 14 crores.

1. Ravindra Jadeja – ₹16 crores:

Ravindra Jadeja embarked on his IPL journey with the Rajasthan Royals and had a brief stint with Kochi in 2011. However, he found a longstanding association with CSK after joining them in 2012. Despite a move to the Gujarat Lions from 2016-2017, while the CSK franchise was suspended, Jadeja returned to CSK in 2018.

Over the course of his remarkable IPL career, spanning 226 matches, Jadeja has accumulated 2692 runs and clinched 152 wickets. Before the IPL 2022 mega auction, CSK retained Jadeja for a whopping 16 crores as their first pick and they have been retaining him for the same amount.
