Sanju Samson has been part of Rajasthan Royals (RR) since IPL 2013.
Indian wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson is all set to end his long-term association with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). The keeper-batter is likely to get traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the five-time champions are considering roping in him ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
CSK are considering to trade in Sanju Samson and are keen to get him on the board, especially with MS Dhoni being in the fag end of his career in the IPL. However, if the trade doesn’t go well, then the keeper-batter will be there at the mini-auction ahead of the 2026 edition of the league.
If Sanju Samson enters the auction, then CSK will have competitors there. Sources in the know have also confirmed that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have also shown a lot of interest in getting the services of the Indian wicket-keeper batter. Hence, if he comes to the auction table, the three-time Champions will be battling with CSK to acquire him.
“Chennai Super Kings are considering to trade in Sanju Samson ahead IPL 2026. If the trade doesn’t happen and he goes to auction table, CSK and KKR will battle it out for him,” a source close to the development told Khel Now.
Sanju Samson joined Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2013
Sanju Samson joined RR in 2013 and was part of the team for three seasons before the franchise was suspended for two years. During that time, he played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and then rejoined RR back in 2018 and has been with them till now.
Sanju Samson was also given the leadership role at RR in 2021. He did a decent job for the team as a skipper, leading from the front. But, he failed to take them to the title win. In 2022, they reached the final, where they suffered a disappointing loss against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Sanju Samson leaving RR comes as a big development as this will leave a massive void in the team. The keeper-batter has been the backbone of the team for the last few years and has scored truckloads of runs for the team.
