Chennai Super Kings (CSK) strongest playing XI for IPL 2025

CSK failed to reach the playoffs in IPL 2024.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stuck to their mantra of buying their former players back and roped in R Ashwin, Mukesh Choudhary and Sam Curran in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction.

They also remained adamant in buying back Devon Conway, a key part of their IPL 2023 title-winning campaign and splurged INR 6.25 crores on the New Zealand opener, and Rachin Ravindra, on whom they used their RTM card for INR 4 crores.

Rahul Tripathi, who had been excellent at No. 3 for Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad, who was a regular feature in Gujarat Titans’ XI, will now don the yellow jersey in IPL 2025.

An acquisition that has got the fans excited is Nathan Ellis for only INR 2 crores. Ellis is known to be one of the finest death-overs bowlers in T20 cricket and in recent years has been a backup bowler in Australia’s white-ball squads. Apart from the back-of-hand slower ball, Ellis can hit the hard length regularly.

Deepak Hooda, an experienced middle-order batsman who can bowl part-time off-spin and has a T20I century to his name, was bought by CSK for INR 1.7 crores. Khaleel Ahmed, a left-arm pacer who had a good IPL 2024 season, joined the five-time champions for INR 4.8 crores.

CSK’s playing XI is shaping up nicely and they have plenty of options to choose from. With the Impact Player rule, CSK can play an extra spinner in Noor Ahmad in home matches and go with an extra seamer on pitches where needed.
