CSK vs RCB: RCB playing 11 vs CSK, Match 1, IPL 2024 - Predicted
IPL 2024 will kick-off with the CSK vs RCB clash in Chennai on March 22.
The tournament opener of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see the two most popular teams facing off against each other. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will start the proceedings against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK won the last season and will have an eye on record-sixth IPL title this time around.
On the other hand, the women’s team winning the WPL must have given a lot of hope to the RCB men to end the trophy drought, and for that, they need a good start. But it will not be easy to beat CSK in Chennai, which has been the toughest for RCB over the years. So here we will talk about the best XI for RCB in the tournament’s opener on Friday.

CSK vs RCB: Bengaluru’s Predicted playing XI vs CSK
1. Faf du Plessis (c):
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis is probably the one who has played more games than any other RCB player at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He is actually the third-highest run scorer for CSK, and his experience playing in Chennai will certainly be a big factor for his team. Du Plessis will be a big wicket because if he gets set, he doesn’t give his wicket away.
2. Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli has been phenomenal with the bat in the last couple of years. And we can certainly say that he is one of those players who can perform on any pitch. He will be the man around whom the RCB’s batting order will revolve, and it will be important for CSK to take his wicket because he can take the game away from them.
3. Rajat Patidar:
Rajat Patidar will be No. 3 for the team. He missed the last season, and his absence was felt badly in the batting order. But he is back and will be eyeing a brilliant comeback. He had a poor test series against England, but T20 cricket is a totally different ball game. So one good innings can help his team register its first win.
4. Cameron Green:
Cameron Green will bat at No. 4, as he did for MI in 2023. The all-rounder will be very crucial for RCB. He is currently in good form and has scored for Australia at both the international and domestic levels. His good reach helps him play spinners well, and not to forget, he can be a very effective pacer in Chennai with this height.
5. Glenn Maxwell:
One man who can change the game in any situation is Glenn Maxwell. That way, he exploded in the World Cup 2023, which was spectacular to watch. RCB would want him to carry on that form. And one thing is sure: until he is at the crease, RCB will not lose the game. Adding to that, his bowling will be another important aspect in Chennai.
6. Mahipal Lomror:
Mahipal Lomror will surely be tested in the IPL 2024. He will be a key player in the middle order and can be a surprise package. His ability to hit the ball long makes him an important finisher in this lineup for RCB. He played some useful knocks last season and will look to start well on Friday.
7. Dinesh Karthik (wk):
A veteran of the league, Dinesh Karthik will most probably play his last IPL season. He will look to give his all, and his understanding of the Chennai pitch will certainly help him and the team. In fact, he has played more than the CSK players at this venue, and that can be a massive factor in the game.
8. Karn Sharma:
RCB need a specialist spinner, and Karn Sharma can be the one who can do well in Chennai. He is one of the most experienced bowlers in the tournament, with 75 matches under his belt. He has also played for CSK and should have knowledge of bowling in Chennai. Hence, he can be a surprise package on the day. It is also to be noted that he can be a pinch-hitter down the order with the bat.
9. Alzarri Joseph:
West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph was bought by RCB for a massive price of INR 11.5 crores at the IPL 2024 auction, which indicates how valuable the franchise rates him. And why not? The guy is performing well for his country across formats. At his best, he can single-handedly win matches, which is why he has the best bowling figures in the IPL registered to his name.
10. Akash Deep:
Not many knew who Akash Deep was last season. But his debut performance against England in the test series has made him a notable face now. The 27-year-old is a very special bowler who can bowl a really good opening spell to put CSK under pressure, like he did on his test debut. That will be one thing, he will look to replicate.
11. Mohammed Siraj:
Mohammed Siraj has been exceptional for the India National Cricket Team, and his growth with the RCB over the years is incredible. He can be the game-changer for RCB with the ball because of his experience. He can certainly rattle the CSK batting order and put RCB in the driver’s seat with the new ball.
