Mohsin Naqvi has already submitted the first draft of the Champions Trophy 2025 to the ICC.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has dropped a massive statement regarding the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will feature Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa.
Naqvi confidently claimed that the prestigious tournament will be held in Pakistan amid the rumours of the competition being held in a hybrid model due to India’s potential non-travel to Pakistan. This statement comes after BCCI secretary Jay Shah became the new chairman of the International Cricket Council.
Right now, the Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place in Pakistan early next year. However, many reports have suggested that some matches of the tournament might be played in Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates as India are not willing to travel to Pakistan.
There is no problem with Jay Shah becoming ICC Chairman: Mohsin Naqvi
According to a report in SamaaTV, the PCB chairman Naqvi is in talks with all cricket boards that will take part in the Champions Trophy 2025. Naqvi added that there are no worries within PCB about Shah becoming the new ICC chairman
“Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, we are in touch with the BCCI Secretary.[We are] also in contact with the boards of the teams participating in the Champions Trophy. There is no problem with Jay Shah becoming ICC Chairman,” Mohsin Naqvi stated.
All three venues (Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi) that are scheduled to host the Champions Trophy 2025 are being renovated and are expected to get ready on time before the marquee tournament.
The PCB has already submitted the first draft of the Champions Trophy 2025 to the ICC. In the PCB’s draft schedule, the marquee event would kick off on February 19, with the final to be played on March 9.
The draft added that all of India’s matches are scheduled to be played in Lahore. Notably, the first draft of the Champions Trophy by the PCB was submitted before Shah was elected as ICC chairman.
