Imam Ul Haq replaced Fakhar Zaman in Pakistan’s playing XI.

The much-awaited Group A clash of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between India and Pakistan took place on Sunday, February 23, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and chose to bat first. Pakistan made one change to their team that lost against New Zealand, with Imam-Ul-Haq replacing the injured Fakhar Zaman.

Reduced to 47/2, Rizwan and Saud Shakeel steadied the ship for Pakistan, adding 104 runs for the third wicket.

Star batsman Babar Azam started well but was dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the ninth over. Imam Ul Haq followed him to the dressing room after getting run out in the next over.

Imam attempted to take a single after pushing the ball from Kuldeep towards Axar Patel at mid-on. However, Axar was too quick in collecting and releasing the ball to produce a direct hit and send Imam back to the pavilion.

A hilarious moment unfolded in the commentary box after the run-out, with Sunil Gavaskar brutally trolling Inzamam-Ul-Haq, the uncle of Imam.

During commentary, Ravi Shastri sarcastically remarked that since Inzamam often got run out, the dismissal might “run in the family.” Sunil Gavaskar humorously responded, “No, it doesn’t run in the family because the family can’t run.

Playing XI of both teams:

India: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami.

Pakistan: Imam Ul Haq, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Tayyab Tahir, Khushdil Shah, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed.
