"I am not kind of guy who would like to compare Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli": Curtly Ambrose on GOAT debate

Virat Kohli is currently 34 years old and with a few more years left in his cricket, he is closing in on Sachin Tendulkar’s special record of scoring 100 Hundreds in international cricket. Virat Kohli scored his 76th international century when raised his bat at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago against the West Indies. Virat Kohli will be playing the 500th International game soon. Kind of the consistency Virat Kohli showed in his career, he earned the right from himself to be compared with World’s most successful batter Sachin Tendulkar. Former West Indies pace bowler Curtly Ambrose has given his opinion on two of the greatest batters comparisons. 

Ambrose avoids the Virat-Sachin comparison

Former West Indies pace Curtly Ambrose who had taken on Sachin Tendulkar in his prime has expressed that he would not like to compare the two batters. Ambrose said in an interview, “I would not want to compare both players. Sachin Tendulkar was a great player and achieved just about everything in Cricket. You can’t take away from his cricketing knowledge and the way he played. I am not the kind of guy who would like to compare”. Virat has 76 international centuries in 500 international games, while Sachin had 75 centuries in his 500 International games. The similarity in numbers always prompts everyone to draw parallels between the two.

Curtly Ambrose also predicted that Virat Kohli will soon be back at his usual best. Lauding Kohli, Ambrose said, “When you are a great player and going through a lean patch, like Virat Kohli in the last couple of years where he hadn’t scored a century outside India, people tend to look at him and say ‘Oh he’s over the hill, he’s struggling cause he hasn’t scored a century’. And all that stuff, It’s unfair… He is still a quality player. He got a hundred against the West Indies but that should do good for his confidence and shut up some people who think he is over the hill”.
