Sanju Samson has played 13 ODIs and 20 T20Is for India thus far.

Former Pakistan spinner-turned-expert Danish Kaneria has slammed India batter Sanju Samson heavily for his non-performance despite getting a multitude of chances for the men in blue side.

Though Sanju Samson is hailed by his fans as one of the generation’s talent, Kaneria feels that the Kerala player has failed to reach his full potential despite getting chances to prove himself again and again.

Samson is currently part of the Indian side that is playing the T20I series in the West Indies. India had lost the first two T20Is, making Hardik Pandya the first Indian captain to lose two consecutive T20Is against the Windies since 2016.

India had played Ishan Kishan as the keeper-opener in the first two T20Is, with Sanju Samson batting in the middle order. The right-hander posted scores of 12 (12) and 7 (7) in the first two T20Is, as Indian batting failed miserably in those matches.

He had done well in the ODIs, scoring a half-century (51 off 41) in the third ODI.

He has had enough chances now: Danish Kaneria on Sanju Samson

Former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria has not been impressed with Sanju Samson’s performances for India so far. He has played 13 ODIs, scoring 390 runs with three fifties to his name, and in 20 T20Is, Samson has managed to score 320 runs with a best of 77 which came against Ireland last year.

Kaneria, who called himself a big ‘supporter’ of Samson, did not hesitate to criticize the player.

“India rested Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli so that they could give others a chance, as many have complained that a few players haven’t had enough opportunities. Now that India has played them, when are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson?,” said Kaneria

He has had enough chances now. I was among the people who supported him and wanted him to get consistent opportunities. However, he hasn’t made the most of these chances,” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

India will play the last two T20Is against West Indies in Florida on August 12 and 13.
