SA20 2025-26: Why did David Miller and Donovon Ferreira miss the PR vs JSK Eliminator clash?

Paarl Royals’ David Miller and Joburg Super Kings’ Donovan Ferreira are absent from the PR vs JSK, Eliminator match, of SA20 2025-26.

Joburg Super Kings (JSK) and Paarl Royals (PR) are squaring off in the Eliminator of SA20 2025-26. The PR vs JSG encounter is underway at SuperSport Park in Centurion on January 22 (Thursday). The winner of the match will book a berth in Qualifier 2, while the losing team will be eliminated from the tournament.

Notably, both the teams are short of their two crucial members in the clash. While Paarl Royals are short of David Miller, Joburg Super Kings miss the services of Donovan Ferreira. Both were crucial members of their respective teams.

Miller played a crucial role in Paarl’s journey in SA20 2025-26, smacking 196 runs in eight innings at a wonderful strike rate of 148.48 with one half-century. On the other hand, Ferreira piled up 103 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 171+, with three unbeaten scores. At an economy of 7.86, he also clinched five scalps.

Why David Miller and Donovan Ferreira not part of PR vs JSK match of SA20 2025-26?

Notably, both Miller and Ferreira suffered injuries in the previous games of the tournament. Miller suffered a groin injury while fielding in an earlier clash against Super Kings. He left the field in the first innings and subsequently did not arrive to bat in the second innings.

Ferreira fractured his shoulder while fielding in a clash between Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals. He injured his shoulder on the last ball of the innings while trying to save a boundary. He later returned to bat, but retired hurt due to pain.

At the toss, Royals’ captain Dan Lawrence admitted that Miller’s ouster from the crucial game was an unfortunate event for the team.

“We were also going to have a bowl. Wasn’t sure how this wicket would play. Looks very good. Obviously unfortunate losing Davie (Miller). Not much we can do about it now,” he said.

Meanwhile, Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl in the match. While JSK finished in the fourth spot in the points table in the league stage, Royals ended in the third spot.
