Not Stuart Broad! David Warner names the toughest bowler he faced in his career

David Warner got dismissed to Stuart Broad 17 times in 31 tests.
David Warner is one of the best batters in modern-day cricket across formats. He is one of the prime reasons for Australia’s success in the last decade or so. He made his debut for Australia in 2009, and since then, he has won a number of games for Australia across formats. He was also one of the key players for Australia, which won the sixth World Cup recently in India.
David Warner was the highest run-scorer for his team with 535 runs in the tournament. However, the veteran opener shocked everyone when he announced his ODI retirement on January 1 while addressing a press conference ahead of his last Test match. Earlier in June 2023, he announced that he will retire from Tests following three-match test series against Pakistan at home, and on the New Year’s day, he confirmed that he will also be retiring from ODIs as well.
David Warner reveals the toughest bowler he has faced in his career
David Warner faced some of the best bowlers in different situations during his career. He had success against some of the best bowlers. However, former English pacer Stuart Broad has quite a number of Warner across formats. But according to Warner, Broad is not the toughest bowler he has faced. In a recent interaction with Cricket.com.au, the Australian opener picked former South African speedster Dale Steyn as the toughest bowler he has faced.
Warner said, “Without doubt, it’s Dale Steyn. I go back to the WACA (the first Test of the 2016-17 home series against South Africa) when me and Shaun Marsh had to go out for an ugly 45-minute session. Shaun came down to me and said, ‘I can’t pull him, so I don’t know how we’re going to go about facing him’. He put me on my backside, and I think he broke his shoulder as well in that game.”
The opener rated Steyn as a fierce competitor who never gave a smile to the opposition batter. The South African pacer ended with 439 Test, 196 ODI, and 64 T20I wickets in his career. Warner will be stepping on to the field for the last time in whites on January 3 in the third and final test against Pakistan at the SCG.
